My team and I are participating in the 2024 Take a Walk in Our Genes. All funds raised will support the needs of the patients and families of the Genetics Services Department at the Hackensack Meridian Health Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital.

The Genetics Service department is a leader in clinical genetics in the metropolitan area and has been in existence for more than 30 years, offering genetic services and testing for both children and adults. All patients are seen by board-certified medical geneticists and/or genetic counselors in the areas of preconception/prenatal, cancer, pediatric, and adult genetics. Patients are evaluated for risk assessment, testing, and management, as well as supportive counseling. Our goal is to improve the lives of our patients by providing them with the important information they need to make the best possible decisions. 

Liam is lucky enough to be a patient of the Genetics Services Department at the Hackensack Meridian Health Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital. Each week we see families much like ours receiving treatment, some travel far, some have relocated and some local. Treatment requires children to sit in a chair for hours while receiving IV medications. The staff always greets us warmly and everyone does the best they can to make every patient comfortable. Bagels and coffee are provided at the start of the day. Every patient receives lunch and snacks are provided throughout the day. Child life provides a toy for each patient. Liam has even been able to take some home. Our travel time each week is 2+ hours each way so all these services are so helpful in making the day go smoothly. We are incredibly grateful to have this opportunity to help Liam. Now we are given the opportunity to give back and help Liam as well as other patients in Hackensack.
