My name is Matthew Watson . I’m a firm believer in health, wellness, and longevity—even when the path to get there is filled with challenges. I’ve seen the devastating impact of cancer up close, both in my personal life and through my work in healthcare. It’s a brutal journey for anyone, but for a child, the pain, fear, and uncertainty are almost unimaginable.
Joy should be a daily part of every child’s life. But for kids with pediatric cancer, joy is often replaced with hospital visits, chemotherapy sessions, and the relentless rhythm of treatment. Their ouches don’t come from playground scrapes—they come from needle sticks and endless testing. Playdates are tentative because their immune systems are too fragile. Little girls cling to their dolls while fighting to keep their own hair. Young boys watch football from hospital beds, dreaming of the day they can run onto the field themselves.
These children deserve more than just hope—they deserve breakthroughs. That’s why on November 2nd, I’m running the NYC Marathon and raising funds to support life-saving pediatric cancer research. Every mile I run brings us one step closer to replacing hospital visits with recess, IV poles with goals, and fear with a future.
