September 18th at 20 weeks and 6 days I went in for a routine Anatomy scan. Everything was going well until the doctor performing the scan said "YOUR BABY IS FALLING OUT OF YOU" I was then rushed to the hospital for an EMERGENCY CERCLAGE. I was sent home and put on full bed rest. I was on bedrest for 15 days before my water broke.
Oct 3rd my water broke, I was rushed to Hackensack Hospital admited. My doctor met us there, he informed me we would be delivering soon but he wanted to try to get me 2 rounds of meds that would help me and Hunter. While we were waiting Flipped upside down for those meds to work I kept complaining I was bleeding way to heavy. The Doc wanted to hold off as much as we could. about 11 Hours later I finally forced him to check me. as he checked me He said there is a foot!!! I was then rushed for an emergancy C-section at 23 weeks and 1 day.
Oct 4th at 11:54am my beautiful miracle HUNTER MATTHEW was born at 1lb 8oz. Ive never been more scared in my life. Chris was able to wallk over by him and take a picture before Hunter was intubated and taken off to the nicu. He was then taken to the NICU were we would spend the next 110 days.
Being away from Hunter wasnt only painful and hard on us as parent but our family as well. Hackensack NICU team did an amazing job at making things easier. From dressing him up on Halloween to holding my hand as I cried telling me how strong I am.
We are supporting this amazing cause because the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) admits about 940 newborns each year, so the need is great for innovative treatment and care. Approximately 80 newborns weigh less than 1,500 grams (that is approximately 3lbs., 5oz!). HUNTER IS ONE OF THESE BABIES!!
We will be participating in the NICUSTRONG Walk 2024. All money raised funds innovative treatment, cutting-edge equipment, much-needed research and support for our babies and families of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Hackensack Meridian Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital.
In 2018, NICUSTRONG was formed in support of these babies and their families. Since its inception, the walk has raised over $300,000, largely due to the tremendous support of teams like us. So far, funding has helped support life-like manikins for vital education purposes, critical research, parent programs and more!
Please consider supporting this walk with a meaningful amount – just $10, $25, or $50 – will make a significant difference!
Thank you for your generosity and support. Together we can make a difference for these families and babies! #hunterstrong #hunterspack
