Emmy's Army
On September 25th, we will be participating in the NICU STRONG Walk 2019. All money raised will support the vital equipment and patient and family needs of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Hackensack Meridian Health Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital.
As many of you know, our daughter, Emerson, was born at 25+6 weeks and weighed 2lbs 0.5 oz. She spent 120 days in the NICU under the care of the most amazing team of nurses, neonatologists, APNs, PAs, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, nutritionists and social workers. Because of their efforts and their tireless devotion to our daughter, Emmy not only survived, she thrived.
HUMC's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) admits about 940 newborns each year, so the need is great for innovative treatment and care. Approximately 80 newborns weigh less than 1,500 grams (that is approximately 3lbs., 5oz!), including Emmy. To address their medical needs, the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital provides an array of services including hyper alimentation (intravenous nutrition), mechanical ventilation, body cooling for newborns and more for the best possible outcome and to help these newborns grow happy and healthy.
In 2018, NICUSTRONG was formed in support of these babies and their families. Since its inception, the walk has raised more than $300,000, largely due to the tremendous support of teams like us. So far, funding has helped support life-like manikins for vital education purposes, critical research, parent programs and more!
Please consider supporting me with a meaningful amount – $25, $50, $100 or any amount – will make a significant difference!
Thank you for your generosity and support. Together we can make a difference for these families and babies!
