Luciana was diagnosed with Stage 2 Wilms Tumor Kidney Cancer in November 2022. She had surgery to remove both the tumor and her left kidney. She then began chemo in December and finished in April 2023. She rang the bell and we thought that we would be able to put chemo and that part of her journey behind us. In July 2023, Luciana went in for her routine 3 month scans. It was then we received the news that she had relapsed and a tumor came back in her abdomen but also spread to her lungs. This meant more surgeries and a longer journey of both chemo and radiation. In August, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor and began her 10 month treatment journey. She has once again proved to overcome all obstacles during this time. She is well-known in clinic as well as during her in patient stays as someone who is positive, strong-willed and an absolute warrior. She never leaves home without her sass. She loves all the outsource resources where she can play games and do arts and crafts. She has also made many friends along the way who are also battling different types of cancer. The growth she has shown over this time and the knowledge she has gained is something extrodinary. She is truly a force to be reckoned with along with every other child who is fighting this battle.
