Dr. Elliot Frank Prize for Patient Safety and Quality
Jersey Shore University Medical Center would not be where it is today without the extraordinary efforts of Dr. Elliot Frank over his 40-year career. Dr. Frank came to (then) Jersey Shore Medical Center in 1983 as Director of Infectious Disease. Over the next 40 years he served as Residency Program Director and Chair of Medicine and, for the last 7 years, Director of Patient Safety and Quality. There is no mission area that he hasn’t touched. Research, teaching, community outreach, and patient care have all advanced under his leadership.
Elliot has influenced the careers of thousands of colleagues, trainees, patients and staff. At the time of his retirement, we could not let his efforts go unnoticed. In recognition for his passion for patient safety and quality, we are establishing the Dr. Elliot Frank Prize for Patient Safety and Quality, to be awarded annually to a team member at the hospital (nurse, resident, physician, technician) who has advanced patient safety and quality. The prize will support dissemination of the awardees' work at local, regional or national meetings; support payment of publication fees and other related expenses. The Prize will be administered by the Patient Safety and Quality Department and discussed at the Quality Improvement and Outcomes (QI and O) Committee of the hospital.
It is Dr. Frank's hope that this prize will inspire members of the JSUMC community to work creatively to ensure that our medical center becomes a national leader in Patient Safety and Quality.
I hope that you will join me and the Medical and Dental Staff of Jersey Shore University Medical Center contributing to this important fund in the name of Dr. Elliot Frank. This will ensure a deserving legacy to our mentor, colleague and friend.
Best,
