Karen Setti, APRN was a beloved mother, grandmother, nurse, collaborator, neighbor, friend, and guiding light for so many. As a nurse at HUMC for 49 years, she served patients as a staff nurse, head nurse, nursing educator and HUMC’s first ever staff nurse practitioner. She was also a patient of the John Theurer Cancer Center for 22 years where she received cutting edge care for her multiple myeloma that enabled her to live a life far longer than was imagined when she was first diagnosed.

Karen’s legacy lives on daily at HUMC. Her dedication to the advancement of knowledge and training of nurses at all levels of practice was unparalleled, as was her belief in the power of a unified, multidisciplinary medical team in the service of patients and families. In all of this, she was a tireless and trailblazing force for good.
